Sunday News

Our monthly dinner at church went so well! We had 7 others plus our family!
Our English brother, Chris, brought bags full of pumpkin from the165 lb pumpkin he grew! Then Sunday evening we had a record high of 17 people in church. (of course including our family) A really exciting visit was from a young couple whom I had invited a year ago at a supper for the Gijón Mariners American football team. She still had the bulletin I had given her that night. She is a Brazilian Christian and brought her Spanish boyfriend with her. It was his first time to ever be in a gospel preaching church! He heard the full plan of salvation! AMEN! Please pray for Felix, as well as the faithfulness of the believers here. We would love to see the church constituted with faithful, growing members.
Please pray for this Saturday´s free Hot chocolate and churros give away. We are praying for a good turn -out. We are inviting most all of the neighbors and all of our friends, even the football team! We may get more than we can handle. We serve a big God!!

"Chestnuts roasting on an Open fire."

Guess everyone is getting into the mood of Christmas. I really haven´t even been able to plan for Thanksgiving, and my little nieces birthday yet, but a song that has been going through my head is "The Christmas Song"with " Chestnuts roasting on an open fire." Maybe I will be ready to get up our decorations sooner this year. :)

Check out this Christmas giveaway. I really like the poems put to music.

Sunday News

Sunday we received a special visit from Jose Manuel y Agustina´s friends.

(Jose Manuel, Agustina, Vasile, Dorina)They are Romanian, but have been in Spain a few years. They stayed quite awhile after the service. We are praying they will feel that this is their church home. We had several in the morning service and the evening service. Praise the Lord!!! Please pray for an upcoming outreach on the 29th that we will be able to reach the people in our neighborhood and even the young people. We are giving away Churros and Chocolate as well as Gospels of John and Romans to all who come. We are going to start advertising it this weekend.
Dorina and Vasile came over for dinner on Monday too! It was a blessing to have them in our home. Michael invited them to stay. Our children love having company and especially Christian brothers and Sisters.

- Our wind down Sunday night -

Go Cardinals!!! Go Kurt Warner! It may not be of upmost importance but football is a profession to some. We are praying for Kurt and his team. He is a Christian and has a great testimony!

Referee, Nurse or Mommy???

While the men are away the children will play. ???
I don´t think that´s how the saying goes exactly. But... That´s how it was today in my home. It is so hard to be "the heavy" especially when we are trying to have fun.

My boys and I had a good day over all. As there was a Men´s 24 hr. prayer conference in Madrid, My husband went the 5-6 hr trip down, leaving me to rough house, referee, bandage, and serve penalties. I know this may be a norm for some households but, we work as a team. When he is not here it´s as if the boys gang up on me. I know, I know it´s not as bad as it sounds and we did have some really special moments. I pray they remember them.

They went to bed at a late late hour, their usual friday night extention, and I sat down to sigh, and listen to the quiet. It is in this moment that their little faces come before my eyes. Sometimes with smiles, but mostly what is pictured in my mind´s eye are the times I have had to discipline them, their up turned faces with saddness at having disappointed me. The hard but true reality that life is not all fun and games.

My prayer, "Lord, am I doing it right? You said in your word to instruct, guide and discipline our children. It seems so hard sometimes. I know you understand because I fail you as your child. - It hurts. Please, Lord , give me wisdom as a Mom to know how to coninually be consistant and loving to my boys, and help my boys to accept correction and learn from it. Help them to also remember those times as good times. In Jesus name, Amen."

Verses I quoted or refered to today to my boys and to myself,
Proverbs 14:1 - A wise woman builds her home up.
Proverbs 8:33- Our children need to hear and accept instruction.
Proverbs 6:20- Our children need to heed to that instruction.
Proverbs 29:15 - A child left to himself bringeth his mother shame.
Proverbs 22:15 - Lovingly drive the sinful foolishness out of their hearts.
(not the childish quirks)
Proverbs 13:24 - True love sets limits and sticks to them.
last but not least...
Exodus 20:12 - the importance of respectful loving obediance... not dictatorship.
(this is a must)

"We bring sacrifice of Praise into the House of the Lord."

This past Sunday was an incredible blessing! We have had visitors on and off since being back in Spain, but this Sunday we almost had them all at once, and we filled the small locale with Praises!
It gets better. Actually all of them said they are bringing family members for our church dinner!! We may need more tables! I am starting to get excited and after wondering how I was going to fit this role, it seems to be finding me. :) There seems to be a nice little space for me at the piano and also as an encourager. Praying that the Lord would allow me to be this for the ladies and that it would be His words of encouragement.

This is a picture from a couple weeks ago of my second son, Andrew leading the music one Sunday night. :)

My Best Friend

Today, I want to highlight my best friend. He is my sweetheart, even after 12 years! We may have our disagreements but it´s always so special when we can laugh about them afterwards. He is my dear husband, and the father of our three boys. He really is a great Daddy, teaching them by example and by Biblical teaching how to be great men of God. Every day I treasure him more. It is next to miraculous, how we can find out new things to love about each other.

No it´s not valentines but it felt like it in a way, as I was sick and my hubby took care of everything so I could rest. Very rarely do I feel like I can´t get out of bed, usually pushing myself to get things accomplished so that Joseph doesn´t have to have more to do. After all, I am HIS helpmeet. We often say to each other that we are very spoiled but I don´t think it´s spoiled if we really truly appreciate what God has given us.

Even on blah days.

Today was one of those blahh days. One usually sits down to write after a good day, but alas I am feeling nostolgic. The rainy cold fall days have me missing my home in New York. The smell of the coming of snow in the air, the wood burning stoves, and the changing of the leaves, gets me a little homesick sometimes. I guess that is why I love it up here in Northern Spain so much. It really does feel like home in that sense.

This morning my oldest and I woke up sick, after my youngest, my middle son and my husband had already been sick somewhat this past week, so needless to say we muddled through school. I slept here and there on the sofa, on the bed in the school room and then after lunch in bed all for about a half hour each time. What a detatched sort of day. It´s days like this that I think it´s a miracle we get anything done at all. I thank the Lord for quick, bright boys who after one explanation can usually tackle the assignment. (unless it´s a report which is new this year for my fouth graders)

The verse for the month has been Psalm 37:3-5. We are memorizing it for our ladies meetings. It has been a blessing and I claimed it today more than anything.

I voted early,but I voted!

Patterings: As Simple as a Smile ~Fiction Friday

This was such a blessing! Having known many MKs, my prayer for my boys is that they do not become bitter but see God´s better ways in the big scheme of this life. This story really reaches that point and gives hope.
