Go Mariners!

Yes it is Football on a chick´s blog! I love football!
I always have liked it ever since I was a little girl watching it with my Daddy. I guess it´s part of the reason for encouraging my husband to play with the first full tackle football team in our city. He is playing Safety in his fourth year with the team. They are just now heading back from Barcelona after beating the Bufals 27-14! I am so proud of my man! Not just for playing but for putting his 110% in every practice and game for the glory of God. He is playing with guys who are ten years his junior and still keeping up! This is definitely of the Lord! The Lord has opened the opportunity for him to be their chaplain. They asked him to lead the team with a devotional before almost every game! It´s something we prayed for and dreamed about. Please pray for the guys on the team as they hear the Good News of Jesus that they will accept Him and want to serve Him with their lives. We know that God wants to save these men. We pray that the time would be soon!

The First Star in Gijón

It is so fulfilling, coming to the end of a homeschooling day in an apartment, to be able to go to the park and watch my boys play, yell, roughhouse and just be boys.
This picture was taken on the way back from the park. My oldest son turned to me and said "Mommy, the first star in Gijón! You have to take a picture!" Now it´s just a little refreshing when my very active 10 year old stops to notice the stars. ( well, just one star over the city ) So here´s the shot. Actually what you are looking at is the moon and the star was just below it. Anyone know what star it is? I want to say it´s Venus but I have to go study my heavenly bodies.
Also, I would like to thank Ali, for the new fresh blog design. We are still putting on the finishing touches but I really like the way she works. Any of you who might like a "face lift", she´s got the touch.

Cherish the Moments

These are some very special moments to me.

Today, like last Sunday, I stayed home and went to Liberty Baptist Church in Irvine, California on line. Last Sunday, during both services with Isaiah and today just the evening service with Michael. Fevers and sickness. But it turned out to be a special time I will remember for ever. Last week, I spent time listening to good traditional Christian music with Isaiah, trying to find some for his cell phone. He loved browsing my playlist with me. Then tonight, Michael and I spent time singing together just us. He really liked the song "Cherish the Moment". He hugged me and wanted to sing more. Of course we sing often but singing one on one with the boys doesn´t happen a lot. I will definately cherish this moment.

Three Great Truths about Praying for Somone

Have you ever had an uncomfortable relationship with someone? Have you ever been rubbed wrongly? Have you ever been misunderstood? Have you ever wanted a friendship with someone that was onesided?

It seems that these happen more often then there are perfect relationships. It causes us to search deeper. Is the problem with us? Is there something we can do to make it better?
Yes, it´s prayer. It sounds so simple but in the beginning it really takes discipline. Of course, no one has arrived at this. It´s a continual path.

Here are three great truths that are a great help in relationships. They are not my own but they work!

1. You can´t think only of yourself when you pray for others. This helps take the focus off of our problems and allows God to point out the needs of others. It helps us to put what ever problem or situation at the feet of Jesus.

2. You can´t hate a person, if you are praying for them. This is the next step in not hating a person. Ooo that word, hate is so strong. If we are truly praying for a person, hate will have no place in our hearts. Matthew 5:44 says that we need to pray for those who treat us wrong. It´s not really an option. (I like it when things are so clear in scripture!)

3. You can´t ignore the person for whom you are praying. Isn´t it so much our nature to shut out the people who hurt us? At times, it is definately easier, but it´s not Biblical. When we start to pray for that certain person, the Lord does a miraculous thing in our hearts. He changes the way we look at that person. When this happens, we can claim victory and have a clear conscience before the Lord that the relationship is in His hands and He will do with it as he desires.

When we get a hold of this process and apply it, we see results! It´s a blessing when those relationships deemed impossible grow to be useful in God´s work here on Earth.
May God bless you today with victory! Romans 8:37

"Nay, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him that loved us."

How do you measure 10 years?

We are measuring it by my fast growing son, Isaiah. He is getting so tall. He just celebrated his 10th birthday! What a loving, competetive, energetic, smart, helpful (when he thinks of it), and friendly boy. We are so thankful that he has confessed Jesus as his Savior and has been baptized. In retrospect, over these past ten years, it seems so natural to think of the tough times and the things he needs to work on, but today we spent most of our dinner time pointing out Isaiah´s good qualities. I pray that he will remember them. Our prayer is that inspite of our failures as parents that he will grow to be a great man of God. Happy Birthday, Isaiah. We love you!
