The Lounge

View my page on The Homeschool Lounge

I am so excited about this new web community! The Homeschool Lounge! It has been wonderful to get to know other moms and see what they do. I don´t feel so bad now for not getting to everything every day, or being more flexible if we want to study something a little longer, or if we want to do a hands on project even if it´s not in the unit we are studying. I am feeling much more confident ( even though I always wanted to homeschool and believed it was God´s will for us) knowing that what we are doing is working and the boys are more than on target! I want to try to enjoy them more and not get so up tight. I would like to do more Art, music, science projects, field trips ect. but at least we are getting the learning in. They are very well rounded with piano lessons and karate, too.
If you are homeschooling and need a little refreshing, first thank God for your little students and then join in the Lounge!

  1. Hey Dani! You can lift weights more than 2 times a week. You just need 48 hours of *rest* between muscle groups. In fact, you can lift every day as long as you alternate upper and lower body. Biking is great. All of it trims you and makes you fit.

I was faithful to my sugar fast, but did not get the *joy* I usually get. I felt God calling me to fast in another direction (blogging...) and did not. I am praying about it. And may do that. If so, I will announce it on the H&F blog then disappear for a couple of weeks. Since starting Precepts Isaiah Part I, my blogging time has been very limited. But I love my Bible Study!!

When I do a sugar fast, I set up parameters ahead of time, and stick to them. This last time, I allowed honey, but no white breads.

The first time I did a fast, it was for 28 days. I ate sugar on Sundays. And only Sundays. I also ate white bread and *lite* yogurt. But no snack bars, turpanto (sp?)or any other kind of sugar. I did eat some things with sugar substitute.

Of course, you want to be able to eat all fruits and veggies. Whole grains, rice, anything like that. The rest, pick and chose.

You know how us southerners love our sweet iced tea. I don't drink it anymore. I used to drink 1-2 glasses a day. Sugar fasting changed all that for me.

    Have a blessed evening!

  2. Hi Dani Joy, thanks for visiting my blog :)
We do have a church nearby. Actually, we've had friends for about 10 years that are missionaries here, so we felt very blessed when the Lord put us in the same city. When you move somewhere new, having friends already there is such a great help!
We also feel very blessed to have such a wonderful house. We could never afford something like it on our own, but the Lord has chosen to richly bless us at this time in our life. I just hope it doesn't spoil us too badly when we finally move back to the US.
I hope I see you again and I'll come back and check on you also :)
